1970 Ski Doo Nordic 399e - restored - Charity build to benefit ALS research, This restoration was a labor of love - courtesy of the good guys at Nutter’s Speed Shop YouTube channel. Here is their description of the project: Charles Liane had one wish as he was dying from ALS - to ride his childhood snowmobile one more time. Charles was a fan of the Nutter's Speed Shop YouTube channel, and he contacted us to work on the sled. We agreed, but we weren't able to save his original 1970 Ski Doo Nordic chassis. We actually went through several chassis until finally a friend of Nutter's Speed Shop, Kevin Andres, brought us a viable 1971 Nordic 399E. Valuable time had been lost, but we set to the task, hoping to finish in time for Charles to ride or at least see the snowmobile completed. Charles wanted us to salvage as much of his original snowmobile as possible, so Rick Proehl restored a hood and other plastics that many would think could not be saved, complete with checkered tape and a duplicate of the stripe Charles had applied to the hood when he was a teenager. Mike Iverson donated his time to paint "Grace" on the hood. Grace was Grandmother to Charles, and his grandparents had bought the snowmobile for him. Donahue Design Racing sandblasted and painted the chassis. Other parts were purchased and/or reconditioned as required. Charles passed on December 22nd, 2025. He was kept up to date with videos, text messages, and photos. Charles saw the completed plastics and the running engine on the freshly painted chassis, but he did not get to see the final product. You can see the entire project on Nutter’s Speed Shop YouTube channel. From Charles loading the sled onto the trailer when we picked it up to Charles's best friend Wayne riding the finished snowmobile. This is not a perfect 100-point restoration. Some parts are from 1970, and others are from 1971. We were on a timeline, and we did the best we could with the parts we had. We hope you appreciate the story and bid on the project. All proceeds go to ALS research.
